Support of the education of socially disadvantaged Roma pupils in a selected primary school

This thesis focuses on the issue of support strategies used for socially disadvantaged Romani pupils in a selected primary school. In the theoretical part, it defines the basic concept of social disadvantage, the term socially disadvantaged pupil, and the reasons for educational failure due to social disadvantage. It introduces the fundamental manifestations of social disadvantage and the barriers it creates in the educational process. The thesis further specifies the issue of the Romani ethnicity, provides a brief history of the Roma people, describes the specifics of Romani families, the upbringing of children, and the position of individual family members. It then addresses the issue of Roma education and the support system. In the context of the thesis topic, it describes the support strategies used in the education of socially disadvantaged Romani pupils. The aim of the practical part was to find out how support for the education of social disadvantaged Romani pupils is implemented in a selected primary school. Educating children from a Children's Home

Dissertation is focused on the issue of institutional care in the Czech Republic. The main focus of this work are children's homes, education and socialization of children placed in this type of residential care. The aim of the theoretical part is to describe the characteristics of subjects of institutional care in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, to compare institutional care with selected countries and describe the child's socialization in the family and at school. A historical overview of institutional care in the Czech Republic is also described, and in conclusion the author deals with a specific description of the social inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in the teaching process at primary school. The empirical part reports on the research and its results obtained by qualitative methodology using case study design. The main goal of the research was to find out how children from a children's home are integrated into the teaching process at primary school. Furthermore, the author set several partial goals. This doctoral thesis provides a comprehensive treatise of contemporary modern methods of education including e-learning. In its preface the author presents its content, purpose, basis and objectives and sets the main goal of the thesis, namely an intention to analyse and evaluate the latest trends in e-learning, modern forms of education and use of information technology in organisation of studies. Sub-objectives of this dissertation relate to the structure of its prime objective and correspond with its individual chapters in which it presents the history of e-learning within the history of science and institutional education, evaluates the position of e-learning and other modern forms of education in the scope of political and legislative priorities of the European Union and of the Czech Republic and presents several core strategic and legislative documents covering this area also in connection with the concept of lifelong learning. The key theoretical part of the thesis contains a detailed overview of main theoretical issues related to e-learning and other modern forms of education in contemporary local and international literature. Informal learning as support of formal education

The thesis deals with key concepts of formal education, nonformal education and training outside of the classroom. The second part focuses on means that support formal education. This is the content of education, environment, methods, teacher-child relationship and the relationship between the children. The role of a teacher is important he chooses activities and affects their progress. The third chapter is a case study of contact center Maják, tutoring children and organizing other leisure activities for Roma children. This section is a description of the facility, applied theoretical knowledge, personal experience with facility and an interview with a social worker, children visiting the facility and Mrs teacher from school, where children go. The interviews show that children who attend Maják are more motivated to learn and they improve their results in school.
The system for appraising and selecting grant projects under the European Social Fund 2007-2013 in the Czech Republic: A Comparative Study

Systems for implementing the Structural Funds have always been crucial to the impact of the Cohesion policy. At the heart of all programs of the Structural Funds are the systems for apprising and selecting projects, determining the efficiency and effectiveness of the program implementation. The aim of this paper is to examine the implementation of the Structural Funds in the 2007-2013 period in the Czech Republic in terms of effective resource allocation through grant projects. The examination focuses on the responsibilities and methods in the project appraisal and selection used under the Operational Program Education for Competitiveness and compares them to similar procedures applied by the European Commission in management of the community Life Long Learning Program in the current financial period. Based on discussion of the respective systems, the paper highlights the main differences between the systems and proposes for consideration several changes to the project selection under the Operational Program Education for Competitiveness to increase its effectiveness and transparency of the system.
